beh, dopo non aver vinto i basilari come sceneggiatura e regia, dare come miglior film a 1917 sarebbe stato assurdo

Alla fine sono crollato!^^' Cmq lieto per i premi a Parasite (che non ho ancora visto dato che dalle mie parti non l'hanno dato, ma avendo visto il precedente del regista sono più che fiducioso).

Scontato l'oscar per Phoenix (Joker doveva fare incetta, sembrava, ma...). Bene anche per quello di Brad Pitt.

pure io non ho tenuto oltre un certo limite però ho recuperato qualcosa nelle ultime ore.

i sentimenti di questa edizione 2020 sono contrastanti.

non avendo visto tutti i film in gara non posso, nemmeno superficialmente, dire granchè sui meriti sui premi assegnati. di certo il risultato conseguito da parasite mi ha aggiunto una certa curiosità sul film, che quindi cercherò di vedere appena sarà disponibile in home video, ma in tutto ciò c'è una punta di sfida perchè si sta parlando di un boom particolare a cominciare dal numero delle candidature (un occhio così costante, attento e fermamente puntato verso un film, in così tante competizioni alle quali ha partecipato, non è certo una novità però hollywood è almeno formalmente l'ultimo step, l'olimpo del cinema che gli altri, senza toglierne i meriti, non sono e che determina sviluppi futuri).

sempre restando in scaletta film/premi assegnati, 3 statuette tecniche a 1917 e tra queste non c'è quella regia di mendes alla quale si è molto spesso accennato nelle varie recensioni o interviste. il film di tarantino ne prende 2, dei quali uno a pitt che è meritatissimo ma anche grazie alla sceneggiatura (la sua, come quella di di caprio, è una parte recitata veramente bene ma, riassumendo, pure egregiamente strutturata da chi gliela ha scritta per un film che ha un timer nascosto e che quando suona si capisce dove si voleva andare... c'è qualcosa di speciale in c'era una volta pur trattandosi di un tarantino un po' stanco). anche ford vs ferrari (sul quale i conduttori ad inizio cerimonia ironizzano banalmente come nelle barze più scontate) ne prende 2, sempre tecnici. rocketman è stata una copertura per riconsegnare il premio a elton john dopo 15 anni. piccole donne si becca il premio per i costumi e boh... penso fosse prevedibile ma speravo andasse ad uno qualsiasi degli altri. discorso simile per judy, ma qui mi chiedo anche come si possa assegnare il premio di migliore attrice ad una attrice che per via degli interventi chirurgici è ormai irriconoscibile e plasticosa... se non per ragioni autoreferenziali (la leggendaria garland). dubbi anche sull'oscar alla dern, che innegabilmente è brava, ma si tributa lei in quanto tale o quello che impersona?

sull'oscar a jojo rabbit boh 2. dopo quelle sul femminismo badass e pertanto giusto ne ho così tanto le scatole piene anche dei film con i nazi che mi sarei basato solo sui nomi finalisti per quella categoria. ancora piccole donne? mabbasta pure loro. i due papi? a parte che nelle clip ho visto un hopkins stratosferico, sono saturo pure di quella vicenda. the irishman aka more of scorsese? no grazie. joker? impossibile perchè troppi autori ed eredi coinvolti e cmq non stiamo parlando di un film che lo mertava. quindi ok, datelo pure al solito film che cavalca temi politici costruiti ad hoc.

per i corti, documentari, il solito premio a disney, lo scontato a phoenix eccetera risparmio bit.

due parole sulla cerimonia. con tanta ipocrisia è continuata la farsa delle etnie e dei generi: no donne regista (è un obbligo?) e no attori di colori (è un altro obbligo?)! schanndalo!!!1!! però la gente intervistata, gli intervistatori, valletti ed i presentatori della serata con i loro discorsi contraddicono proprio ciò che si accusa. mi sembra che c'è stato spazio per tutti alla cerimonia; i film non sono e non dovrebbero essere la stessa cosa.

era la serata delle mamme; chi poteva se l'è portata. si sta provando ad innaugurare un nuovo trend?

ah, anche un po' la fiera delle tende usate come vestiti.

Vorrei fare un appello all'academy, per l'anno prossimo, per l'amor del cielo cancellate i premi per i miglior film di animazione, dopo le vincite di questi anni è palese che non avete n3ssuna qualifica per giudicare un film animato, ormsi l'oscar per l'animazione è ampiamente spenacchiato, non sarebbe il caso di selezionare giudici competenti.

Perchè preferire film mediocri come big six hero, toy story 4 invece della principessa splendente e Klaus denota non solo ignoranza del settore, ma anche disonestà e spocchia intelettuale

La cosa divertente di cui proprio nessuno s'e' reso conto e' la rivoluzione che c'e' stata quest'anno negli 'Oscar'; non come premi, ma ancor di piu', fino ad ieri la suddivisione era tra film americani - film altri.

Con la rinominazione della categoria 'film stranieri' in 'film internazionali', appunto da quest'anno non c'e' piu' il diciamo cosi' obbligo, del resto naturale visto che trattasi di premio comunque americano, di avere un 'domestic' e 'foreign'.

Per dire, se ai tempi della 'vita e' bella', la situazione fosse quella introdotta solo ieri notte, la vita e' bella che anche allora era candidato come miglior film, l'avrebbe potuto vincere,

Le cose si sono fatte molto meno 'meccaniche' e molto piu' interessanti.

era troppo servita visto il botta e risposta tra i due...

personalmente credo che ai film di punta di Netflix manchi ancora qualcosa di decisivo per essere considerati un prodotto meritevole di oscar. però prima o poi potrebbero farcela, anche perchè Netflix sta coinvolgendo sempre di più proprio l'industria di hollywood (produttori, distributori, attori, registi noti).

Il film di Scorsese e' un gran film.

Cio' premesso.

Il film di Scorsese a livello di effettistica, che lo contraddistingue, fa esplicito riferimento alla tecnologia che doveva essere usata per un altro film, Gemini Man, che doveva risultare parecchio differente, visto che il ringiovanito NON doveva essere Will Smith, cosa che ha affossato ulteriormente il livello di gradimento del film, considerando che Will Smith e' sempre lo stesso a qualunque eta'.

Ragion per cui, e per un'organizzazione come l'Academy che potrebbe scrivere in fronte 'pecunia non olet', per quale motivo il film di Scorsese avrebbe dovuto avere di piu', se non per il fatto che era di Scorsese?

Mica era na critica, più che Netflix, credo che abbia nuocito a Scorsese quelle dichiarazioni da vecchio zio scorreggione che lo ha un alienato alle simpatie delle nuove generazioni.

Oscars Announce New Inclusion Requirements for Best Picture Eligibility

The diversity and inclusion initiative has been a heavy focus for the Oscars the past few years, shown by the expansive membership initiative. Today, as part of the Academy Aperture 2025 initiative, AMPAS announced new representation and inclusion standards in order to be eligible in the best picture category.

For the 94th and 95th Oscars ceremonies, scheduled for 2022 and 2023, a film will submit a confidential Academy Inclusion Standards form to be considered for best picture. Beginning in 2024, for the 96th Oscars, a film submitting for best picture will need to meet the inclusion thresholds by meeting two of the four standards.

All other Academy categories will keep their current eligibility requirements. For categories such as animated feature, documentary feature and international feature, that submit for best picture consideration, they will be addressed separately.

For a number of years, the Academy has struggled to nominate films that are diverse in its cast, directors, and technical craftspeople. In 2016, after they failed to nominate any person of color among their 20 acting nominees, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, who was Academy President at the time, took historic action by committing to doubling the number of women and diverse members by 2020, which they have achieved.

Academy President David Rubin and Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said in a joint statement, “The aperture must widen to reflect our diverse global population in both the creation of motion pictures and in the audiences who connect with them. The Academy is committed to playing a vital role in helping make this a reality.” They continued, “the Academy is committed to playing a vital role in helping make this a reality.”

The standards are as follows:

STANDARD A: ON-SCREEN REPRESENTATION, THEMES AND NARRATIVES
To achieve Standard A, the film must meet ONE of the following criteria:

A1. Lead or significant supporting actors

At least one of the lead actors or significant supporting actors is from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group.

• Asian
• Hispanic/Latinx
• Black/African American
• Indigenous/Native American/Alaskan Native
• Middle Eastern/North African
• Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
• Other underrepresented race or ethnicity

A2. General ensemble cast

At least 30% of all actors in secondary and more minor roles are from at least two of the following underrepresented groups:

• Women
• Racial or ethnic group
• LGBTQ+
• People with cognitive or physical disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing

A3. Main storyline/subject matter

The main storyline(s), theme or narrative of the film is centered on an underrepresented group(s).

• Women
• Racial or ethnic group
• LGBTQ+
• People with cognitive or physical disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing

STANDARD B: CREATIVE LEADERSHIP AND PROJECT TEAM
To achieve Standard B, the film must meet ONE of the criteria below:

B1. Creative leadership and department heads

At least two of the following creative leadership positions and department heads — Casting Director, Cinematographer, Composer, Costume Designer, Director, Editor, Hairstylist, Makeup Artist, Producer, Production Designer, Set Decorator, Sound, VFX Supervisor, Writer — are from the following underrepresented groups:

• Women
• Racial or ethnic group
• LGBTQ+
• People with cognitive or physical disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing

At least one of those positions must belong to the following underrepresented racial or ethnic group:

• Asian
• Hispanic/Latinx
• Black/African American
• Indigenous/Native American/Alaskan Native
• Middle Eastern/North African
• Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
• Other underrepresented race or ethnicity

B2. Other key roles

At least six other crew/team and technical positions (excluding Production Assistants) are from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group. These positions include but are not limited to First AD, Gaffer, Script Supervisor, etc.

B3. Overall crew composition

At least 30% of the film’s crew is from the following underrepresented groups:

• Women
• Racial or ethnic group
• LGBTQ+
• People with cognitive or physical disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing

STANDARD C:  INDUSTRY ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITIES
To achieve Standard C, the film must meet BOTH criteria below:

C1. Paid apprenticeship and internship opportunities

The film’s distribution or financing company has paid apprenticeships or internships that are from the following underrepresented groups and satisfy the criteria below:

• Women
• Racial or ethnic group
• LGBTQ+
• People with cognitive or physical disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing

The major studios/distributors are required to have substantive, ongoing paid apprenticeships/internships inclusive of underrepresented groups (must also include racial or ethnic groups) in most of the following departments: production/development, physical production, post-production, music, VFX, acquisitions, business affairs, distribution, marketing and publicity.

The mini-major or independent studios/distributors must have a minimum of two apprentices/interns from the above underrepresented groups (at least one from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group) in at least one of the following departments: production/development, physical production, post-production, music, VFX, acquisitions, business affairs, distribution, marketing and publicity.

C2. Training opportunities and skills development (crew)

The film’s production, distribution and/or financing company offers training and/or work opportunities for below-the-line skill development to people from the following underrepresented groups:

• Women
• Racial or ethnic group
• LGBTQ+
• People with cognitive or physical disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing

STANDARD D: AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT
To achieve Standard D, the film must meet the criterion below:

D1. Representation in marketing, publicity, and distribution

The studio and/or film company has multiple in-house senior executives from among the following underrepresented groups (must include individuals from underrepresented racial or ethnic groups) on their marketing, publicity, and/or distribution teams.

• Women
• Racial or ethnic group:
•Asian
•Hispanic/Latinx
•Black/African American
•Indigenous/Native American/Alaskan Native
•Middle Eastern/North African
•Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
•Other underrepresented race or ethnicity
•LGBTQ+
• People with cognitive or physical disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oscars extended the 2020 eligibility year until Feb. 28, 2021. The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony is currently scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 25.
