Il Cinema della Corea del Sud (sintesi).

La ribalta anche internazionale per una cinematografia che da piu' parti viene proclamata

essere la nuova Hong Kong, avviene nel 1999 con il film "Swiri/Shiri" del regista Kang Je-Gyu

che per il territorio e per il periodo era un colossal originariamente di 5 Milioni di

dollari circa, fruttandone 60 solo in patria, divenendo il piu' grande successo mai ottenuto nella Corea del Sud. L'ennesimo ed ultimo successo di kang Je-Gyu e' Taegukgi (2004), film che tuttora, con dati aggiornati al 13 luglio, risulta il terzo film coreano piu' visto nella storia della Corea, sottraendo la palma a Silmido (vd. tabella in fondo).

Successivamente a Shiri, Joint Security Area (2000) di Park Chan-wook otterra' successo

quasi a livello di Shiri, e lo stesso Park Chan-Wook verra' proiettato nell'olimpo dei

registi coreani, divenendo famoso all'estero forse di piu' per quella che e' una sorta di

'trilogia della vendetta', che comprende "Boksuneun naui geot/Sympathy for Mr.

Vengeance"(2002), "Oldeu Boi/Old Boy"(2003), "Chinjeol-han Geum-ja-ssi/Sympathy for Lady

Vengeance"(2005).

A Kang Je-Gyu ed a Park Chan-wook ci sono altri talenti da aggiungere per una panoramica il

piu' possibile completa, come Kim Jee-won, il cui film del 1998 "The Quiet Family", ad

esempio, e' stato oggetto di remake da parte di Takashi Miike in "Happiness of the

katakuris", mentre "Janghwa, Hongryeon/Tale of two sisters" (2003) ha visto un remake

americano proprio quest'anno, con "The Uninvited", che vede al debutto i fratelli Charles e

Thomas Guard (con risultati c'e' da dire non entusiasmanti al botteghino, nonostante il remake non sia da buttare). I non rassicuranti risultati del remake probabilmente non faranno vedere un remake o la distribuzione di un altro film di Kim Jiwoon; "Banchikwang/The Foul King" (2000).

Il suo ultimo film risale al 2005 ed e' "Dalkomhan insaeng/Bittersweet Life"

Impossibile poi non ricordare e mettere in evidenza Kim Ki Duk, che si muove nel territorio

del racconto di dolore e passione di "Seom/The isle" (2000), passando per "Nabbeun namja/Bad

Guy" (2001), fino alla liricita' di "Bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bom/Primavera, estate,

autunno, inverno... e ancora primavera" (2003). Il suo ultimo film e' "Areumdapta/Beautiful" (2008)

Ricordiamo tra i talenti visionari Jeong Jun-hwan con il suo particolare "Jigureul

jikyeora!/Save the green planet" (2003), e di Cho Jin-gyu con la particolare commedia "Jopog Manura/My wife is a gangster" (2001, con due seguiti nel 2003 e nel 2006) . Di tale film e' in programmazione l'ennesimo remake USA, si vocifera con Andy Garcia nel cast.

Certo, il cinema sud-coreano non e' sinonimo solo di sceneggiatori o registi, ma anche di

validi attori, basti ricordare quel Shin Ha-kyun che va con nonchalance da JSA (Joint

Security Area), al su menzionato e stralunato "Save the Green Planet", fino a "Sympathy for

Mr. Vengeance".

Di seguito potrete leggere una tabella di gradimento 'alltime', quindi di sempre, del

pubblico sud-coreano nelle sale cinematografiche. E' interessante notare che nelle prime 10

posizioni vi siano 9 film coreani, che l'unico ad entrare in classifica tra i primi 10 sia Transformers

(sic) e che Shiri e JSA ancora resistano tra i primi 20 a discapito degli anni trascorsi

(sono rispettivamente al 15' e al 18' posto).
