  9. https://djiphotoacademy.com/will-drones-replace-my-nikons/ Will Drones Replace Nikons in My Camera Bag?by Randy Jay Braun | Feb 7, 2018 | Drone Photo Tips, Drones & the Photo Industry For the past 35 years, I have earned a comfortable living from professional photography; creating images for corporate clients, families, art galleries, and for mass media distribution. I understand the needs of my clients, and shoot to the specifications of the finished deliverable product. This means if I need to produce a large print, I will select a camera with a large sensor. Alternatively, if I understand that the final image will be used for web marketing, I will not be nearly as concerned with the size and number of pixels on the sensor behind my lens. Will drones begin to replace Nikons in my camera bag? Are drone cameras really professional tools now? What is going on here? Captured with the DJI Mavic Air Here is my typical scenario as a professional photographer who is incorporating aerial drones into my offerings… I get a call from a corporate client – a resort hotel which just added 100 more rooms into a new wing and an awesome infinity pool overlooking the coastline. (Phone rings) “Hello? Yes I am available next week. Sure, I can get that shot for you. Do you know about drones?” A moment of awkward silence ensues. “Did you know I am an FAA licensed drone operatorand have my Certified Drone Photographer accreditation as well as insurance for your job?” Captured with The Mavic Pro The client is the marketing director and has heard of drones, but is skeptical it would work for his higher-level marketing campaign. “No, I won’t need a helicopter”, I promise. “Yes, I will bring my Hasselblad gear and tripod just in case. I’ll meet you at 4:30pm and we will shoot after sunset.” The client agrees. Then I add, “I will give you an iPad and you can direct the shots you want. You will be amazed.” The client is still skeptical and wants samples and pricing. I ask him an important question, “How will you use the finished images?” He tells me the photo they want will be used for website marketing of the resort remodel. Perfect! The key word was website. This means a small camera and small sensor are more than adequate for the job. I then quote the client a half-day rate which equals roughly six hours at $150 per hour. I add in the $45 for Verifly insurance. I figure this job will take me an hour or two on location with drones, and maybe 2 more hours of post-processing and an hour of travel. My bill will be about $950 plus tax for a very simple job. On the shoot day, I naturally show up more gear than I need. This is mostly for show. Hasselblad case Nikon Case Tripods Inspire 1 X5 case Phantom 4 Pro case Mavic Air case I know fully well that the Hasselblad with 50 Megapixels is way overkill for a web photo, and the wrong camera for this particular shoot, but I flash it to the client nonchalantly to communicate to him that I am a professional. After scouting around the location through the viewfinder of my Nikon with different lenses, I assure the client that there is no angle from the ground, and I prefer to use a drone camera. He approves. I put the Phantom 4 Pro in the air for him to watch. I teather it to a longer cable so he can actually guide my shot. I see his excitement growing. He is sold on drones after about one minute. The Phantom 4 Pro is my go-to drone for safe professional work. I love the 1″ sensor because it gives me the flexibility of deeper processing and less noise in low light. Also, on occasion I use my Inspire 1 X5 camera when I have plenty of open space or need a longer lens. I find myself using my Inspire drones less and less, for professional stills. Captured on the Photographer’s “go-to” drone, the Phantom 4 Pro. I take back my ipad and get to work for the client. Generally I know the shot will look best from a low altitude of about 50 feet. My routine is to continue to explore all angles as I slowly move closer to the subject. Also, I wait for the light to soften. When I find that perfect point of view, I take a moment to land swap out to a new battery. After finding that spot in the sky again, I capture multiple images as the sun lowers. The swimming pool lights finally turn on with the surrounding building interior lights. The perfect moment comes when the ambient sky is equal to the brightness of the interior lights. That is the moment to shoot. It lasts about 5 minutes at best. What about the tiny new DJI Mavic AIR? Is it now officially part of my professional camera bag! Heck yes! I am being totally honest here. In fact I have already landed two professional jobs this week simply by posting a couple images taken with the Mavic AIR! I am unsure whether the Mavic AIR will replace my Mavic Pro I love both. What is the Mavic Air best for? In my opinion, it is the drone to use when safety, noise, and confidentiality are concerns. If I arrive at a location to shoot, and I am feeling uneasy about flying as the licensed drone operator, or uneasy about how other people will view my drone, then the smallest & least obtrusive drone will come out of my camera bag. Consider this to be the fact at wedding receptions, family and senior portraits, local sports events and festivals. The 12 megapixel camera works great, especially for bright daytime scenarios. That is more than enough to get a great image to the web! Do we want a larger sensor in today’s small drones? YES, of course! But the trade-off is a larger camera body with heavier glass, stronger gimbal, larger motors, more noise, etc. Todays drones are a balancing act in size versus camera quality. Jumping back to my original question above; “Will drones replace the Nikons in my professional camera bag?” The answer in my case is yes. It already happened nearly four years ago with the Phantom 2 Vision, when I started selling aerials as quickly as I sold my traditional tripod-based cameras. And yes, I speak as a successful career-long professional photographer. My return clients are now asking me for aerials first, because they are craving that never-before-seen perspective of the same ‘ol subjects. Go ahead and roll your eyes if you want; I dare you to wait.

Ne riporto un frammento " For the two centuries that followed the Haitian Revolution, artists and authors have drawn from Haiti, Ethiopia and visions of free African nations to dream in paintings, sculptures, books, songs, plays, films and, yes, even comic books. With the rumblings of decolonization coursing through Africa and the Caribbean, the painter Jacob Lawrence completed 41 separate works capturing the establishment of a free Haiti, his Toussaint L’Overture series (1937-38). The very same year, the historian C. L. R. James released Black Jacobins, a book almost cinematic in its detail, and which still stands, for many, as the definitive account of the Haitian Revolution. James’ book fell out of print after a decade, only to go back into production at the urging of black American readers and in response to the cresting black activism of the 1960s. In short order, Black Jacobins provided the foundation for the first-ever comic book treatment of Toussaint’s life and Haiti’s founding, Golden Legacy No. 1. That book came in 1966, the very year two white New Yorkers first decided to imagine “the King of the Wakandas.” Though Jewish and no doubt attuned to the value of homelands, neither Stan Lee nor Jack Kirby had even been to Africa (and it showed). But neither had Lawrence nor James, in their respective landmark achievements, ever been to Haiti. Dreams to art to life, and back again. As African-descended people and their artistic allies continued to rewrite what the imagined black person or place could be in the last third of the 20th century, they revised — both directly and indirectly — Wakanda’s first quirky imagining at Marvel. In time, a jungle of metal trees and over-compensating, two-dimensional men gave way to a more sumptuous, grounded world in which black interior lives glitter as richly as Wakanda itself. The most recent takes by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Roxane Gay and other creative teams have peppered Marvel’s pages with black feminist character development and Easter eggs to scholarly books about slavery, Haiti and Reconstruction. And almost as if writing social history, they’ve made King T’Challa and those around him question whether we, living beyond the fourth wall, should want a black king at all. Seeing the Wakanda of comics brought to life, audiences will rightfully swoon at Black Panther’s costumes, “authentic” accents and visual effects. Still, we’d do well to remember there’s nothing “African” about the movie, as least not in any historical sense. It’s a mashup of Africanisms. Thus, we ought not to let it stand in for the people and countries of Africa. The film’s glorification of an isolated black kingdom — mono-crop economy and all — decouple it, too, from Haiti, for what that’s worth. They tried that there, after all — a beleaguered response to more than a half-century of blockades and denied diplomatic recognition following independence.
