Marvel fans: an original Guardians of the Galaxy ongoing series or writer Dan Abnett returning to the Marvel cosmic-verse – which of these things warms your heart more?

Well the good news is you don’t have to choose because Dan Abnett is in fact writing a new Guardians 3000 ongoing series beginning in October, with art by Gerardo Sandoval.

Starring the original line-up of Major Vance Astro, Starhawk, Martinex, Captain Charlie-27, and Yondu, and set in the far-flung future of the Marvel Universe, the publisher promises fans of Marvel continuity will still see lots of familiar MU concepts in this new series.

 

“Guardians 3000 is fast, character-driven and contemporary – it’s a great series for readers (both new and familiar with to the Guardians world) to dive in and follow a cast of bombastic underdogs as they attempt to save the Universe,” added editor Katie Kubert. “Seeing Dan [Abnett] tackle Marvel’s cosmic characters again is a blast, and developing this project with him and artist Gerardo [sandoval] reminds us how much fun making comics can be!”

The series will spin-out of the Abnett-Sandoval back-up story inGuardians of the Galaxy #14, which sort of serves as a ‘pilot episode’ of the new ongoing, according to Marvel.

In the back-up, the team was reassembled under Astro’s care after noting that “Reality is wearing out around us. The timestream is eroding.” It’s a common theme running through many Marvel comics for the last couple of years, as nearly every major series has had at least a storyline dealing with time-travel, the multiverse, or some kind of collapse of space-time.

 

"True to the original tales, they are trying to save the future from the menace of the Badoon,” revealed Abnett. “I wanted to keep that element, and indeed try not to do anything to deny any continuity. So they are freedom fighters, first and foremost, facing an immensely hostile culture. However, they soon discover that the Badoon are just the tip of the iceberg, essentially opportunists taking cosmic advantage of a much deeper crisis.

"As Starhawk deduces, the very future itself is in danger. History and causality are unraveling and repeating themselves, and not in a friendly 'Groundhog Day’ way."

Another character will soon suit up in [/size]Captain America's red, white and blue uniform, and a teaser posted on[/size]Marvel's Tumblr account Friday indicates the person behind the mask will be revealed on Monday:

As "Captain America" writer Rick Remender discussed with Comic Book Resources last month, Steve Rogers had the super soldier serum sucked out of his body by the villain Iron Nail in issue #21.
"Steve is no longer going to be in the field," Remender said. "That will lead to some interesting changes in the next three to four issues as we discover who will be on the field."
This isn't the first time someone besides Rogers has worn the uniform, as five other men have also worn the mantle, including Isaiah Bradley, William Nasland, William Burnside, John Walker and James Barnes. Barnes, the most recent, wore the uniform after Rogers was assassinated following "Civil War."
Update: As several readers have noted, the cover to "Avengers" #35, which shows the Avengers eight months in the future, features a different Captain America who looks suspiciously like the Falcon:

Io mi ricordo la run di De Matteis dove cap invecchiava e si confrontava con una altrettanto vegliardo teschio rosso, me lo ricordo perche fu anche la prima apparizione della figlia del teschio

JG Jones, acclamato artista statunitense nominato agli Eisner Awards, entra a far parte della scuderia dei BOOM! Studios, che, negli scorsi mesi, aveva annunciato la collaborazione con altri grandi fumettisti, come George Pérez, Justin Jordan e Mark Waid. Jones, famoso soprattutto per aver disegnato opere come Final Crisis e Wanted, ha annunciato, attraverso un video, che non solo disegnerà un’opera, ma che farà anche il suo debutto come scrittore, per un fumetto che poteva essere pubblicato solo presso i BOOM! Studios, famosi per la libertà artistica lasciata ai propri fumettisti.

I dettagli del progetto non sono ancora stati annunciati, ma ad affiancare Jones nella scrittura ci sarà un altro autore. Che sia Mark Waid l’innominato co-autore di questo progetto? Come avevamo scritto qualche giorno fa infatti, Waid, con il suo ritorno ai BOOM! Studios, aveva annunciato la sua collaborazione con un grande artista, uno con cui voleva lavorare da lungo tempo. Speriamo che il Comic-Con di San Diego, ormai alle porte, ci dia qualche nuovo, e succulento, dettaglio.

Se tanto mi dà tanto, Thor non ha esattamente un braccio meccanico, ma un braccio dell'armatura del Distruttore, come questa sua versione anziana fine-dei-tempi, vista recentemente in God Butcher e God Bomb.



Certo è che ancora non si sa chi o csa può avergli mozzato un braccio in quella maniera.

che il problema non è Angela come Thor. E neanche che Thor possa aver perso la dignità così, per strada.

 

L'unico problema è che provano DAVVERO a convincere la gente che è un cambiamento definitivo... tipo 3 mesi dopo la fine di Spider-Ock, che han passato un anno a affermare ai quattro venti che era un cambiamento definitivo.

Sono talmente poco convincenti che sono patetici.

Purtroppo non seguo molto il mondo dei fumetti americani, saltuariamente mi aggiorno capendocene meno di prima poi seguo più roba DC che Marvel, quindi sono un pò ignorante in materia marvel.

Ho perplessità sulla questione Spider ock, perchè mi sfuggono le ragioni di questa scelta "coraggiosa" di mettere la mente in un villian del corpo di uno dei super eroi marvel più celebri, a parte qualche "filosofeggio" sulla seconda occasione ecc eccc, cose che comunque hanno fatto sclerale i fan in maniera esagerata.

 

Ma il "thor donna" ? Cioè appurando che non sarà un Genderswap, come mai ci sarà questa svolta definitiva di un thor femmina ? Ma il tizio che "diventa Thor" non era il vero e proprio dio asgariano, ma addormentato sotto una identità umana ?

 

E poi si lamentavano che alla DC comics avevano fatto "ricamminare" Barbara Gordon....
