E' stato spiegato:
E' una visione di Batman durante uno dei suoi incubi di un futuro possibile dominato da Darkseid.
In pratica Bruce ha esagerato con la peperonata a cena, ecco il risultato.


Snyder ha anche raccontato che una delle sue idee originarie prevedeva che Bruce si innamorasse di Lois, mentre questa stava ancora portando il lutto per Clark.
