It's the authors fault for being an asshole.

 

He never met his deadlines.

 

He bailed on an anime special thing that the staff had to apologize for.

 

One of his dead lines he missed because he went on a trip. And when a fan asked him why he did that he said because he's the author and can do what he wants.

 

He criticized his editor and publisher Media factory. And as MF is now owned by Kadokawa, They don't sit back with crap like that and authors who don't follow their rules.

 

He went to a signing event and then refused to sign stuff. And to boot he took over someone else booth at Comiket, and then said he refused to sign stuff such as the posters or the free stuff because he's there for free himself.

 

THAT is a massive negative mark on him, both a professional level and fanbase wise.

 

What we're wondering now is that who actually now owns the rights to IS. The Author or MF. He's reached the point where he career is probably over. The best thing he could do is just sell the right to the animation studio.

 

And to be blunt, The light novels were shit for the most part. The only reason Infinite Stratos is popular let alone known is because of the anime.
